The carnelian scarab is an interesting object resembling another similar stone found in Poggio La Croce. On this piece though, which is almost intact and that still features parts of the bronze ring that supported it, most of the incision on the side used as a seal is still readable. We see the figure of a nude man standing above a crouching dog. Archaeologists believe this is Hercules facing Cerberus, but the scene could represent men playing with dogs as found on other scarabs.
